My Online
Personae
As so very many people online have done,
I have used multiple IDs and names during the last several years. I've
also produced and published artwork and writing and photographs under
many of those names, including actual legal ones. These names include:
M.A.Afallan,
Melanthe, Thanasima, Leuke, Kerykes, Hexxennea,
and Death Blossom.
And of
course the most-used current name Quantum
Witch. I intend to keep using some of
these in the future.
Early on in my internet life, I was
stupid and didn't understand the concept of watermarking. I sure do now.
But sometimes my work surfaces in strange places without it, as they are
much
earlier versions. So far, I haven't seen anyone else claiming the
work for themselves -- so far.
The watermarks I use on art also vary,
depending on when it was done and where I posted the work. I have used
the following:
afallan, quantum witch, hexxennea,
deviantArt, and
Death Blossom Art
(with or w/o a skull decoration).
And I don't always use the same fonts for watermarks. Most
significantly, virtually everything I draw and post contains my
signature (a squiggled
MAA)
often with a date and copyright symbol. Regardless of how I change anything
--add a watermark, colour, redraw entirely, whatever-- that signature is
almost certainly going to stay. If it's NOT there and being claimed by
someone else, then we have a problem.
See, I was actually accused of stealing
from myself, which I find absolutely hilarious.
Apparently,
Melanthe "stole" work from someone unknown (i.e., me), coloured and
watermarked it Death Blossom Art,
thereby "claiming" they'd done it all. Well, she DID, duuuh.
I was even the one who posted the
work in question, as Melanthe,
on the site where the accusation was made. I'd also
tidied up the shitty old line art, but no one mentioned that. It even
still had my MAA
signature on it, for pity's sake. What level of
dolt-headedness would it take to steal something and do that, honestly?
Still makes me LMAO.
Anyway...
M.A.Afallan,
Melanthe, Thanasima, Leuke, Kerykes, Hexxennea,
Death Blossom,
and Quantum Witch are one and
the same person.
If I wasn't a virtual hermit, I'd invite people to come to my house and
look in my filing cabinets and see the original pieces done by hand.
Maybe if I get over my agoraphobia and social phobias, one day I might
attend a 'Con and get to show stuff for real.
Meanwhile, if a piece of work
--drawn or
written-- shows up with one of those names and you are in doubt that it's
mine --or conversely, if anything you believe to be mine appears
without any of those names, and claiming someone else's name-- go ahead
and write
me. I will be able to tell easily what is truth. And I really do want to
know.
Just because I have multiple online names
doesn't mean I'm not me. It's all coming from the same pair of hands
attached to the same body, and channeled through the same skull. And if you
like, we can blame having all those names all on my bipolarity. That's
probably true anyway.
